First test for the new PSG!

Sat 6 August, 21:00 CEST
Parc Des Princes, Paris

On Day 1 of the 2011-2012 French Ligue 1 season, PSG – fresh from its make-over - will host Lorient at the Parc des Princes on Saturday night.

On the impulse of its new owner, Qatar Sports Investments, and new man in charge Leonardo, Paris Saint-Germain affected a five-star recruitment drive, acquiring amongst others the services of Jérémy Menez, Blaise Matuidi, Kevin Gameiro and the Argentinean star from Palermo, Javier Pastore.

The “Merlus” from Lorient can expect a very difficult journey and would hope that this “Dream team” is not yet running smoothly.  The departures of Kevin Gameiro to the team’s opponent on the day and Morgan Amalfitano and Jérémy Morel to Marseille have weakened Lorient, although the club consequently made its own recruitments in the form of Aliadère, Mareque, Contadeur and Quercia.

Without Arnaud le Lan and Sigamary Diarra, Christian Gourcuff’s men should be content with the point they would win from a draw, whilst for Antoine Kombouaré, who has undoubtedly never been under as much pressure, the three points seem almost obligatory.
